Lane with tea

In the manga 'Children of the Sea' there is a young marine biology researcher named Anglade who looks ridiculously effeminate despite the fact that most of the other adult characters are drawn fairly realistically. Anglade was a big, though not entirely conscious, inspiration for Lane's design, although unlike Anglade, Lane is not a long-winded, conceited douche with Asperger's Syndrome.
